Aristide came to live
at the orphanage in October, 2005. His mother is not well mentally and his father is
unknown. Sometimes Aristide's mother is in the family courtyard but most of the time, she
wanders the streets of Yako. Aristide was being cared for by his elderly grandmother.
Grandmother did the best that she could but she could not keep up with an active 9 year
old.
Late at night, sometimes 10 or 11 o'clock or later, our guardian, Jean, saw Aristide on
the main streets of Yako, far away from his family courtyard. Essentially, Aristide was
living on the streets with no one looking after him. After some time, Jean, asked whether
we could take Aristide into the orphanage.
Aristide is now in school and he just finished 4th grade. He is a very gentle boy who
tries very hard to please. He loves to play soccer and card games. |
